A diagnosis of PCOS is a shock, it leaves us feeling sad, scared, unsure about the future and very often, powerless.
The whole situation isn’t helped but the fact that doctors on the whole are so useless when it comes to giving us advice on PCOS.
So many women I’ve spoken to have had bad experiences where they are just told to lose weight or to get on the pill ‘until they are ready to start a family’. That is not treatment, that is slapping a bandaid on the problem and waiting for something to go wrong.
PCOS cannot be ‘cured’ but it is also not a disease. Our bodies have imbalanced hormones but we can significantly improve this with simple lifestyle and nutrition changes alone.
So the short answer is no. It will not go away (the only exception being Pill induced PCOS which is only a few of us) BUT you can reverse your symptoms. You have the control and you can have the power to have control of your own health without the need for drugs.
I didn’t get any help from my doctors either – not my GP and not my Ob Gyn. But I did my own research, and I used my nutrition knowledge to work out a health protocol that has worked for me. PCOS is a syndrome you don’t need a doctor to improve. Keep seeing your doctor and keep asking for check ups on your health and any particular symptoms ro changes you are experiencing but don’t despair! There is so much you can do right away to help yourself!
